As the first to arrive in the library at lunchtime, Ipsaan Sedhai has emerged as valedictorian of the Class of 2026. Known for balancing schoolwork and extracurricular activities, and just being everywhere, Ipsaan is a great example of what it means to be consistently great.
Throughout high school, Ipsaan has had his fair share of obstacles to overcome and successes. From mastering tricky subjects to participating in clubs, sports, and volunteer services, along with juggling about 50 million APs as everyone presumes, Ipsaan has been the epitome of determination and perseverance. “I’ve always tried to stay curious about whatever I’m learning,” he said. “Even if something seemed impossible, I told myself that working at it means I’m learning.”
As with many students, Ipsaan came face to face with obstacles along the way. Juggling challenging coursework and personal responsibilities has not always been easy, but Ipsaan explains that commitment combined with time management are heavily rewarded. “There were nights when I was completely stressed out, ESPECIALLY junior year,” he acknowledged. “But creating a schedule and sticking to it honestly makes a huge difference.”
Looking back, Ipsaan wants to inspire other students with advice on how to survive high school. Whether it’s staying organized, asking for help, or juggling responsibilities, Ipsaan encourages students to embrace both failures and successes as opportunities to learn. “Don’t compare yourself to others, improve from where you started,” he advised. “Your effort is more important than perfection.”.
As his senior year goes on, Ipsaan looks forward to new opportunities and future goals. While planning to attend college (hopefully Harvard), pursue a career, or explore personal passions, he is ready to take the next step with confidence. “My favorite subjects are physics and math, but the hardest class I’ve ever taken was easily APUSH, mostly because of Mr. Premisler’s homework.”
With determination, persistence, and a positive attitude, Ipsaan sets an encouraging example for the Sewanhaka students and leaves an enduring legacy at Sewanhaka and continues to inspire those around him.
