Mr. Kenny has recently announced that Sewanhaka will be having an end of the year pool party! The venue of the pool party will be none other than the oft rumored pool on the roof of Sewanhaka High School!
“For many years, a pool on the roof has just been considered a silly myth, but now we are making it a reality,” said the principal. While the logistics of the whole operation might seem complex, Mr. Kenny believes it should only take a few weeks to set up. In order to ensure the safety of every student, ten foot fences are being erected around the perimeter of the roof. A professional team of lifeguards will also constantly be on standby, as well as the school nurse to respond to any emergencies.
The price of such large-scale construction might seem concerning to some, but Mr. Kenny explains, “The funds to build this huge pool come from special athletics funding provided by New York State.” The whole operation is planned to be completed when students return from spring break.. Students will be allowed to come up to the pool during their lunch periods only once to test out the pool before the end of the year party.
The end of the year party will be after classes end in June, and it will feature multiple contests with corresponding rewards. Some contests include a 50 meter timed swim, a water balloon battle royale, and water polo. It should be noted that students are still strictly prohibited from participating in the AP Psychology water-gun game. Winners of the aquatic competition have the opportunity to win free school lunches, access to the Sewanhaka courtyard, and up to four free periods everyday! Practice swimming now if you want a chance to win! I’ll see you all in the pool!
