Many fail to live their dreams, and simply move on with their life, but some don’t forget their dreams, they just wait for the perfect moment. While students were taking notes during the AP Biology class, Mr. Burgess had struck his students with a news that completely stunned them. Yousuf Shazad, a senior enrolled in the class reported that he was talking to Muhammad Mirza about his dentist appointment complaining about a wisdom tooth removal this weekend. Upon overhearing the conversation, Mr. Burgess suddenly stopped talking. He froze for a few minutes and abruptly closed his computer, He then announced that “Guys, I am done.”
Everyone was so confused as to what was happening and were anticipating a joke or a surprise test, but no. Mr. Burgess just said “I spent over a decade teaching biology, only to forget about my dream of becoming a dentist. Being a teacher is like pulling teeth – I might as well do it for real!” The class sat in stunned silence. “Starting next week, you will have a different teacher. If you ever need a good dentist, come to my new clinic, Burgess Dental Clinic.”
Everyone thought Mr. Burgess was joking, but he hadn’t even cracked a smile. One student said “Mr. Burgess, are you saying we won’t see you anymore?” Mr. Burgess paused for a moment. The bell rang, and he walked out of the classroom.
All the students started to talk about what happened, and soon news reached Mr. Kenny. He went to the science office to find Mr. Burgess and he saw him but saw a paper on his desk. The paper said “Burgess Dental Clinic, 672 Tulip Avenue, Grand Opening April 1st.” Taking matters into his own hands, he decided to go to the location and on the grand opening. There on the door was a sign that simply said, “April Fools, from Dr. Burgess.”
