Senior week has been one of the most highly anticipated events for seniors—and Sewanhaka students in general. The first day of Senior week kicked off with Character Day: students displayed spectacular cosplays from cartoons, anime, Marvel, and more! A wide variety of bright colors dazzled the Sewanhaka halls and brought fiction to life.
Tuesday was a combination of athletic prowess and academic ability as the jocks competed against the nerds for the grand prize of bragging rights. Overalls, thick glasses, high school varsity jackets, you name it.
Day three was a blast from the past. Students brought a resurgence of older styles; the eras ranged all the way back from Ancient Greece to the hippy movement of the 60s to the slick backs of the 90s and the oversized fits of the 2000s. Day four complemented this perfectly, as seniors jumped forward into the future, seemingly aging overnight into the “grandma-fied” and “grampa-fied” versions of themselves. Checkered shirts, khaki pants, bald caps, wigs, suspenders, canes, and walkers were occupied with hunched shoulders and backs, and to some dismay, slower walking—especially when it meant missing the first couple of minutes of class.
On Friday, students were seeing double as seniors assumed the work and outfits of their favorite teachers. Whether or not they taught is a different story, but everyone benefitted from the lighter day which also fell on the start of winter break.
Senior week for the Class of 2026 has been years in the making (literally). More events have been planned (and additional ones are in the works) for us in the coming weeks.
To many more memories for the rest of senior year!
